180 Degree Rule
The 180 degree rule is used when filming a scene with two characters opposite each other. To follow the 180 degree rule the camera must stay the same side of the imaginary axis (shown in the picture below) meaning that the character on the left stays on the left and the character on the right stays on the right. This is done to avoid confusing the audience when the character on the left suddenly appears on the right and vice versa. Sometimes the 180 degree rule is deliberately broken in what is described as a reverse shot, when the camera moves to the other side of the imaginary axis.

Company Information
180 Degree Axis rule and coverage.

Another aspect of the 180 degree axis is that the closer to the axis the camera is, the more the viewer's point of view resembles the characters, and thus he feels WITH the character. This encourages the important identification with the characters which viewers should feel.
same scene but with the Bogart shots flipped. Notice how confusing this can be:
Notice how close to the axis these shots are. An example crossing the axis is seen in this
Both characters are looking from Left to Right and seem to be looking off somewhere else.Instead of standard "Coverage" showing the inter-relationship of characters, another method of SHOT/REVERSE/SHOT can be utilized where the character's Point of View is seen. Afred Hitchcock used this method extremely effectively to create a connection with the character. Basically the format is:
- 1) Show the character looking.
- 2) Show what the character is looking at and;
- 3) Show the character's reaction to what he is seeing.
A classic SHOT/REVERSE/SHOT is seen in the Wonderful film SHERLOCK JUNIOR.

What makes an excellent script
Most filmmakers know that it takes a good script to make a successful movie. While a good script can be destroyed during the filmmaking process, a film can rarely succeed anywhere if the script does not do its job from the start.
A few things to consider when you write a narrative script, where you are trying to tell a story with a beginning a middle and an end, can truly make a difference to how well your end product tells the story you have set out to tell.
Also being able to catch the audience's attention is what makes a movie effective, and the only way to catch the audience's attention is have an effective script.

HORROR=scream
Horror films seek to elicit a negative emotional reaction from viewers by playing on the audience's most primal fears. They often feature scenes that startle the viewer through the means of macabre and the supernatural, thus frequently overlapping with the fantasy and science fiction genres. Horrors also frequently overlap with the thriller genre.
This is a storyboard of a horror genre in the movie "Scream"
The movie was introduced in 1996 and stormed the box office with it's twist and turns.
The opening scene views a blond girl, a perfect stereo-typic character for a horror genre, home alone ready to watch nothing but a scary movie. The phone rings a number of times alerting the girls attention, she is also making so pop corn. The sound of the pop corn rises the audience heartbeat in anticipation. The scene then cuts to an establishing shot of a house in the wilderness. As she picks up the phone and has a conversation with the unknown man, he quotes a sentence that shocks not only the girl but the audience, he says "i want to know who am looking at", this is said because the girl asked he unknown man "why do you want to know my name. As the movie carries on the only way to grab the girls attention is when he present a boy (the girls boyfriend) in a chair bleeding, engaging the girl to co-operate with what the unknown man is saying.

there is a grey background and feeling to the opening scene, sounds of waves and a mid-shot create a scene of the beach, it then cuts to a close up of a man (believing to be the main character), there is a bit of blurriness creating an enigma, allow the audience to think if this is a dream or reality. It then cuts to a long shot of two children playing with sand castles, but this is viewed in slow motion, projecting a dream . DON'T BE A MENACE
don't be a menace (comedy)
exaggerates racial stereotypes:black people in an urban neighbourhood who shoot each other and don't live over 21.
the mother also accepts that her boy would die and has no care for any other boy.
people around the street do not take any notice of what happens, which shows that this event happens constantly.
